INRAE opens applications for Postdoctoral position in European Plant Breeding Network

5 May 2026

INRAE's GAFL research unit (Genetics and Breeding of Fruit and Vegetables) in Avignon, France, is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to contribute to COLiBRI — a major new EU-funded project aimed at shaping the future of plant breeding research across Europe.

The 18-month position will be embedded within COLiBRI's Work Package 1, focused on mapping the plant breeding needs and gaps across the EU. The successful candidate will conduct literature surveys, design and analyse stakeholder questionnaires and carry out interviews with breeders, farmers, industry representatives, researchers and consumers.

The role covers a broad scope of topics including stress resilience, crop diversification, organic and participatory breeding, new genomic techniques and under-utilised crops — all in the context of the EU Green Deal.

Candidates must hold a PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding obtained within the last three years, with strong English communication skills (C1+). A background in agronomy is an advantage. Up to two days of remote work per week are permitted (gross salary €3,000–€3,500/month).

The application deadline is 31 May 2026, with a start date between June and September 2026 . Applications should be submitted as a single PDF to mathilde.causse@inrae.fr.
