IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 gathers over 10,000 participants in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi became the global hub for nature and people from 9-15 October 2025, as more than 10,000 participants joined the IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025 to set the course for conservation for the years ahead.

Across more than 1,000 sessions, decision-makers from governments, civil society, Indigenous Peoples' organisations, academia and business explored the conservation and sustainable development agenda for years to come. With the 2030 Paris Agreement, the congress aimed to cover five critical themes: Scaling up resilient conservation action, Reducing climate overshoot risks, Delivering on equity, Transitioning to nature-positive economies and societies and lastly, Disruptive innovation and leadership for conservation. 


IUCN World Conservation Congress 2025

One of the most significant outcomes of the Congress was the 20-year Strategic Vision for the Union, which provides guidance and action points to drive global conservation action in the next four years. 

Among the many organisations present, Pensoft Publishers, Work Package 7 Communication, dissemination, exploitation and synergies with other projects lead, also took part with a dedicated booth.
