Spotlight on Agri4Pol: Pensoft publishes featured blog post on the project

7 May 2025

AGRI4POL’s communication, dissemination and exploitation partner, Pensoft Publishers, has recently featured the project in a dedicated blog post.

The blog highlights that threats to pollinators and pollination services that support agriculture and provide benefits to people are a worldwide problem, recognised by intergovernmental scientific assessments, national or transnational initiatives, and policies. It identifies intensive agriculture as among the principal threats to pollinator biodiversity and the crop pollination services that pollinators provide. Moreover, it notes that crop breeding has typically tended to overlook the benefits of pollination for sustained crop yields in favour of other crop traits.

AGRI4POL began in February 2025 and will continue through to the end of 2028. It is built around six key objectives. Agri4Pol addresses a range of scientific, socio-economic and policy-related questions through six interconnected objectives. These focus on stakeholder engagement, crop breeding, diversification, ecological infrastructure, feasibility assessments, and policy analysis.

The post also introduces the Agri4Pol consortium, which consists of partners from fourteen European institutions and five associated partners, including from China. The consortium spans a broad spectrum of scientific disciplines, including pollinator ecology, agriculture, stakeholder engagement and science communication.

Pensoft’s role

Drawing on its extensive experience in the communication, dissemination and exploitation of project results, Pensoft is responsible for maximising Agri4Pol’s impact and long-term legacy. This includes developing the project’s visual identity and online presence, producing a podcast, and translating results into policy recommendations. In addition, Pensoft facilitates collaboration with other initiatives by leveraging its involvement in six other EU pollinator projects, fostering synergies and cross-project exchange.
